Bangkok has so much to offer in terms of places to visit and activities to do with children when visiting the city. Sometimes the weather is just too hot, or you want to spend time inside where there is the coolness of the air conditioner – this is where indoor playspaces come in handy.
Many indoor play spaces in Bangkok vary in price from super affordable, to quite a large rate depending on how much time you want to spend there or how many extra areas of the indoor space your little one wants to play in.
Because we lived in Bangkok for 3 months, we would often make the decision to go to an indoor play space twice a week and would pick the days that have deals instead of hiring a nanny or sending our daughter to daycare. Going to the indoor playspace a few times a week was very cost-effective as an option to ensure our daughter was able to engage with other kids and have fun during the day.
Here is a list I have compiled of the best indoor playspaces for kids in Bangkok in no particular order:
1. Kidzoona
Located in Gateway Mall, this indoor playground is at Ekamai BTS station. This is one of our favourite indoor play spaces as it is affordable for your time there. We would often book a 2-hour time slot and our daughter would happily play there without being bored the entire time. From kinetic sand to dramatic play, tricycles to ball pits, trampolines to building blocks or colouring to inflatable rolling tubes, the possibilities for fun are endless. The staff there are super friendly, and oftentimes around Noon hour, the staff gather around in the centre of the playspace to play music on a speaker and bring the children together to dance and sing. 2. HarborLand
There are several HarborLand locations across Thailand, and they tend to be located in larger malls in bigger cities. We managed to visit the Sindhorn Midtown location, as it was the cheapest option that was nearby to us. The space is large (even for the smaller location), and has a secondary level upstairs for smaller children that made it somewhat worth the money. You do also have to purchase their socks (for both adults and kids alike), but once you buy them once, everyone takes them with them to every indoor play place they visit. If your kids are older than 4 or 5 years of age, I would totally recommend spending the money and taking them to MEGA HarbourLand as it has waaaay more to do for older kids. 3. Bumpsy Daisy Cafe
An adorable cafe located in the heart of Phrom Pong area of Bangkok. This hidden gem has a very Montessori-style to its decor, offering a small space for parents, guardians, and caregivers to enjoy a meal, snack, or beverage while the little one plays. There is a tiny outdoor deck for play, in addition to toys spread out around the cafe. Upstairs boasts of a padded floor space where small babies can get moving. They host various workshops and classes for parents/caregivers with small babies (music, sensory play, massages, etc.) Adults must make a purchase in order for the child to play, which is totally fine as it’s a great way to connect with other families from near and far. 4. Playville
Playville is another indoor playground that boasts a Montessori-style decor space; wooden play structures, and light colours in a calming tone. They have a massive ball pit, climbing structure, rock climbing ramp, dramatic play area, book area, puzzles area, colouring area, as well as a sandpit area. You have the option to make use of a locker for your belongings, as well as a place to sit to grab a drink and give your child a snack. They also have a small boutique area where you can purchase some of the same high-quality toys they have in their playspace. On Wednesdays, 1 adult can enter free of charge when they accompany a child to play. Location | Website | Price: $19CAD (2 hours of play)
5. Honey Bear Bistro
A hidden gem off Soi 23 or near Thong Lo BTS station. This is a bar/restaurant/bistro type place that has an indoor and outdoor dining space, in addition to a wonderful indoor/outdoor play space for kids. You can order some food or drinks, while your child plays around nearby to you. There are books, trucks, blocks, and more inside and then a climbing structure, ping pong table, slide, and riding toys outside. It’s a great spot to visit day or night, with or without your kid. If you are staying in Bangkok for an extended time, they also host birthday parties. Location | Website | Price: $5CAD purchase (unlimited play)
6. Bounce Inc.
Does your kid need to burn some energy? Do they like bouncing around for fun? If so, the indoor trampoline park may be a hit. This place has floor-to-wall trampolines for kids of all ages and sizes. There are 30 interconnected trampolines to use, as well as tumble tracks and sloped bounce walls. If you purchase the bigger packages, you can also access the basketball trampoline area for slam dunks, as well as the giant jumping bag. You’ll likely need to purchase their special socks to use the play facilities. Location | Website | Price: $20CAD (including sock purchase)
When visiting an indoor playground, be sure to bring socks to use, or the places you visit will charge you to purchase socks as an extra fee. Some places also offer deals on certain days of the week or have special offers based on how many times you visit. If it is a cafe with a play area, you can expect to make a small purchase to eat or drink in order to compensate for your child playing and using their facilities.
